We do not limit genres or topics, but we at HUMID discourage gratuituous sex, violence, or hate speech, at the editors' discretion.
No AI-assisted work is permitted.
You may submit in multiple genres. You may submit no more than 3 total submissions, in any combination of mediums.
Prose: 4,000 word maximum across submissions.
Poetry: 2 pages maximum per poem, single-spaced
Screenplay/One-Act Play/Art Work/Graphic Novel: no more than 5 pages, though we are aware these mediums vary and exceptional work of longer length may be accepted.
How to Submit:
Submit all text documents as downloadable email attachments using .doc, .docx, .pdf, .jpeg
Please submit each work separately.
Your submissions should be anonymous. Failure to remove your name from the work may result in rejection.
A Note on Art Submissions:
Please hide any signature so that the submission remains anonymous.
Art must be printable and must be 300 dpi or higher quality.
Art must be titled (even if that title is "Untitled #1"). Please include the title in the file name.
Art Statements are strongly encouraged. Include any Art Statements of <200 words with your submission as an attached file. If your art is selected to be published, we will publish these art statements as well.
Permissions
By submitting to HUMID, you are granting permission to publish your work in the annual HUMID print journal, the online journal, and on our website. Upon publication, all rights revert to the authors and artists.
Decisions
Acceptances and rejections will be sent via email in October.
